St. Simons Island, Georgia, 6-8 November 2024.
Conference Theme: Constancy in a Complicated World
The relationship status “it’s complicated” on social media seems increasingly apropos in a world where nothing seems to be as it was before. While we are confronted by situations that may have long been in the making on one hand, on the other hand, the world seems unable to cope with them as it has in the past.
From US elections to peace in the Middle East, everything seems to be a tense balance with situations that defy simple solutions.
Please consider joining us to engage in discussing a world where past understandings are challenged by the present. We encourage faculty, independent scholars, practitioners, graduate students, and undergraduate students (with faculty sponsors) to submit their research to the 56th Annual Georgia Political Science Conference to be held November 6-8, 2024, in St. Simons Island, Georgia.
Papers will be accepted from all fields of Political Science and related disciplines. We welcome undergraduate poster sessions, undergraduate research panels, and proposals on the scholarship of teaching and learning. Once presented, scholars and faculty members are encouraged to submit their papers for publication consideration in our peer-reviewed journal, Questions in Politics.
As always, there will be teaching panels, elections roundtables, the President’s reception, and plenty of opportunities to catch up with colleagues from around Georgia.
Submit your proposal via email to GPSA2024@gmail.com or via this form.
Proposals do not have to relate directly to the theme of the conference. If you encounter any issues, please address all questions to this year’s Program Chair, Chris Grant, grant_jc@mercer.edu Additionally, if you have any ideas for special undergraduate panels, workshops, or sessions, please send them directly to our Program Chair.
The deadline for submission of proposals is July 1, 2024. Applicants will be notified of acceptance on a rolling basis but in all cases, no later than September 1, 2024.
NEW IN 2024 There will be a separate track for members wishing to better understand and explore Georgia Government and Politics. This is being specially designed to assist scholars who are new to the state in understanding the nuances and realities of the mandate to teach Georgia Government and the Georgia State Constitution.
